Wow. Where has the year gone? It seems just like yesterday DW and I bought our house . . . and then found out we were expecting #4. To say we were shocked might be the understatement of the year. But, as we would soon learn, everything about Claire has been a surprise. She had a few surprises for us while I was pregnant, and I ended up spending a few days in the hospital throughout the pregnancy. Turns out, she was fine - was just a laid-back baby.
Just as a precaution, my doctor scheduled me for a C-section three weeks early - on September 5th. Again, Claire would have nothing to do with that. She decided that she liked September 4th best. So, she made her grand appearance at 5:21 p.m. She was perfect.
Claire was an awesome baby - she hardly ever cried or got upset. That is, until the morning of March 16, 2013. Claire started feeling bad, see this post, and we had to take her to the hospital. She ended up having emergency surgery at 3 am on Sunday and stayed in the hospital for a total of 5 days. That was probably the scariest ordeal any of the girls have been through. We are so grateful to all the people that prayed for her healing. Everything is fine now - she should not have any more problems related to the surgery.
Since that time, she's been full-force, chasing after her big sisters. Jules has been an amazing sister. There is a reason why we call her "Little Momma." Sometimes I think Claire would rather be held (and fed . . . and changed) by Julianne than me or DW :-) And Megan and Madison have been so good playing with her. They are starting to become protective of her, looking out for her if they think she might get hurt.
Looking back, I can't imagine what our lives would be like without Claire in it. God knows what he is doing - at all times, even if we don't understand. HE has blessed us with 4 beautiful, healthy and smart, little girls - each with their own completely different personalities! I can't wait to see what they have in store for us in the future.
So, Happy, Happy Birthday Claire. We Love You, and we're so blessed that God chose us to be your family.
